On June 10, 2019, our nonverbal, special needs granddaughter’s life changed forever. This was the day that we made our first visit to RideAbility. Wendy and her staff were so welcoming and accommodating, and when we left this first meeting, we were confident that this program, with these caring adults, was a place that could have a major impact on Breigh’s life. Once a week, from that day forward, we have been part of the RideAbility family. I say family because that is truly what it is. Wendy and her staff, and volunteers, are outstanding and they provide such a loving and caring environment that stimulates and excites all those that participate in the program. Skills and developmental activities are strictly based on each participant’s needs, which truly makes this an effective and life-changing experience for all those that participate in this program. Each day that we visit RideAbility, it is such a blessing to see all the smiling faces and people, young and old, working together to provide the best experience possible for all those involved. If you are looking for a program such as this for you or your child, I highly recommend putting RideAbility at the top of your list. I have been doing Therapeutic Horseback Riding since we moved from Brazil in 2000. At the time I was only riding as a Therapeutic Skills, after decades doing something always similar, I want to learn more… I asked my mom to look for another place in 2020 when we moved from Michigan to North Carolina.

How lucky I am I found RideAbility Farm and a beautiful horse, named Shadow…and Wendy and all the coaches and volunteers …such a huge family for me with no siblings! How lucky I am being a member of the Special Olympics Equestrian Team!!!

Shadow is a sweet horse and well trained, always helping us learn new skills and getting medals!!! I really like to WIN!!! Riding Shadow I have been learning Walk and Trot and so much more! It has been my HAPPY PLACE!! He is the reason for my Medals in the SO Competition every year.

I am so grateful!! Shadow during competitions wants to “ show off’ his skills and I love that!!

You see a boy here just feeding a horse, right?? I see so much more! First a new horse not Shadow but Sweet Piper. It is often hard to work with another horse or person for Troy. I see a child that is struggling to understand what is going on. Why making friends is hard. What is going to be like when he goes back to school. So much runs through his head. BUT at Rideability he calms down, talks to his horse, shows grace and slows down the over thinking.
