Dr. Wendy Schonfeld - Executive Director, Founder and Ride School Director

Dr. Wendy Schonfeld, founder of RideAbility Therapeutic Riding Center in SC, is a seasoned chiropractor with more than 26 years experience. She graduated from New York Chiropractic College in 1989.

She founded RideAbility in 2011.  At RideAbility, Wendy oversees all aspects of the center including lessons, volunteer training, program coordination, veterans program, client services, special events and fundraising efforts.

Wendy is continually amazed at the horse and his/her capabilities to make such powerful impact on the physical, cognitive and emotional levels of special needs children and adults.  She is proud to bring RideAbility to Clover, SC and blessed for her fantastic team of volunteers and board members.

Wendy is an avid rider and previously competed in the Hunter/Jumper Equitation division with her horse Romeo. She now competes in Endurance racing and Eventing. She is a P.A.T.H. (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship) certified instructor.  She is an Advanced Certified Equestrian Coach for Special Olympics. 

Wendy believes education is so important and valuable in our program. Constantly improving our center and the ability to help our riders and families. She strive for knowledge to continue to grow and flourish everyday. Wendy has completed advanced courses for our Equine Services for Heroes veterans program through the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship. Continuing her studies and class work to advance her knowledge in Spinal Trauma Pathology, Mild Traumatic Brain Injury with Concussion and Spinal Cord Injuries, Paralysis & Equine Assisted Activities. Next up on her calendar Advanced study of Equine Assisted Activities and Autism Spectrum Disorder. She lives in Clover, SC with her husband Michael and they have a beautiful daughter Hannah. 



Dr. Michael Schonfeld - President/Board Director, Chiropractic Orthopedist  

Dr. Schonfeld was a Biology major at Brooklyn College, received his B.S. degree and graduated from The National College of Chiropractic, a prestigious school in the suburbs of Chicago. After graduation Dr. Schonfeld established his first office in Bellmore, NY. He attended the National Lincoln Post Graduate Program and received his Fellowship degree in Chiropractic Orthopedics. 

In February of 2010, immediately after the devastating earthquake, Dr. Schonfeld spent a week in Haiti delivering much needed health care and supplies to those in need. He even had the honor to treat many US Marines stationed there. Also, Dr. Schonfeld offered complimentary chiropractic care to the volunteers, firefighters and police officers on site at the Twin Towers days after the 9/11 incident. In addition, Dr. Schonfeld was president of the Bellmore Kiwanis Club and a member of the Bellmore Lions Club.

His vision in life is to constantly be giving back to his community. Dr. Schonfeld and his family reside in Clover, SC. He is the President Elect of the Clover Rotary Club, has been appointed by Governor Hailey to serve as a member of the Board of Directors of the York County Board of Special Needs & Disabilities, serving as its vice-president. He is a Board Member of the Greater Clover Chamber of Commerce and he also participates with the Live Well Clover Committee. He works hand in hand with his wife Wendy at RideAbility. Dr. Schonfeld has three daughters, and five grandchildren. He has a Chiropractic Practice in Clover on Main Street called Clover Chiropractic Care.

Hank Grossman - Treasurer/Board Director

Hank Grossman is an Internet and Digital Media industry veteran who has worked at various companies including iCrossing, 360i, Bank of America and IHG to name a few. He is currently working as a Sr. Principal Client Success Manager at Krux, a Salesforce Company focused on client success and digital/data management strategy in the Southeast. Earlier in his career, Hank spent time working as a financial analyst in Leveraged Finance at Morgan Stanley and UBS.

Hank received a BSM degree with a concentration in Finance from The Freeman School of Business at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA.

In his spare time, Hank enjoys traveling, golfing, and spending quality time with his wife Lauren and his two boys Jonah (8) and Levi (6). He currently resides in Atlanta, GA.


Jackie Kuschner - Secretary/Board Director

Jackie has a long and fulfilling career as an Obstetrical Registered Nurse, a Women’s Health Nurse-Practitioner and Midwife since 1991. She graduated with a certificate of Midwifery from The University of Medicine and Dentistry in Newark New Jersey. She holds a Master’s Degree in Nurse-Midwifery from The State University of Stonybrook in NY, as well as Certification and SC State licensing as a Certified Professional Midwife and Registered Nurse.

Jackie has held various teaching positions as a preceptor for medical residents, and for Midwifery and Nurse Practitioner students. She held a position as an Associate Professor of Nursing at The College of New Rochelle in New York until she relocated to Charlotte, NC in 2008. Jackie provides holistic care to families during the childbearing years and is devoted to the available resources to assist children, adults, and families with special needs.

Jackie has been an integrated member of the RideAbility Therapeutic Riding Center family since its “birth”.  Jackie is privileged to witness the rewards of therapeutic riding and the dedication of this most important and proven discipline. She welcomes the opportunity to join the Board of Directors in fulfilling the goals and needs of this vital organization.

George Becker - Board Director

George is the father of two young men on the autism spectrum. He presently lives with his wife Karen and his two sons Joseph and August in Guilford, Connecticut. He has been involved with therapeutic riding at various facilities that provide therapeutic riding services in Connecticut. He and his family love to horseback ride and help out at their barn.  He has served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Connecticut Autism Spectrum Resource Center (ASRC) and is presently a former member-at-large. He worked on the ASRC team for an initiative to pass a legislative Bill in Connecticut to provide Medicaid waivers for autism services and to initiate a pilot program for job training and placement.  George is a registered Professional Engineer and is currently a Senior Engineer with POWER Engineers, Inc. located in Fort Mill, South Carolina.

Natalie Terrio – Vice President 

As a former elementary school educator, Natalie has worked with many children with physical and/or learning challenges in her career.  She enjoys the one-on-one interaction and witnessing the positive changes in people’s lives.

In the past, Natalie has experience working closely with various animal rescue organizations in the Charlotte, NC area. She also has chaired and organized numerous successful charity fundraisers.

Natalie and her husband, Ralph, have lived in the Charlotte area for over 25 years. Currently, they reside in Fort Mill, SC.  They have 2 grown children. She is thrilled to join the Rideability “family” as one of the first volunteers. 

Andrew Turner - Board Director

Andrew Turner is a current volunteer with RideAbility and has been involved with the Special Olympics training and competition held in Raleigh.  He is married to Amy Turner who is very active with the organization and is well versed in all aspects of the program.  Andrew lives in Clover and is a resident of Cherokee Farms where RideAbility is located. He has a Business Degree with a concentration in Management from the University of South Carolina-Upstate branch and has a professional career as a Senior Buyer/Planner currently with Hunter Douglas Inc.  Andrew has 8 years of professional experience in various business settings and has worked as a Process Engineer, Production Manager and Project Manager prior to his Senior Buyer role.  He was the President of the Marketing Club in college and has been involved in fundraising campaigns in the past.  Andrew has also volunteered with Meals-on-Wheels and the Spartanburg Soup Kitchen among other organizations.  He is very excited to see the positive changes RideAbility is able to provide to its riders and volunteers.

Pamela VanAernum - Board Director

Since retiring in 2015, Pamela worked as a surgical assistant in oral surgery until becoming a stay at home mom raising 3 children. After returning to the work force for several years until her retirement as a sales & customer service representative in the lawn care industry. Pamela has always had an interest in helping others & wanted to volunteer at a place that had the same philosophy as herself, "To help others unselfishly & make a difference in the lives of other". RideAbility is that place! Pamela was born & raised in Rochester, NY & now happily calls Lake Wylie her home which she shares with her husband Richard. She has 3 wonderful children & 4 amazing grandsons. She & her husband look forward to all the wonderful things Lake Wylie has to offer, amazing weather & great southern hospitality!
